Is Telephone Therapy a New Concept?
Telephone
therapy is not a new concept, but its availability is on the rise. It’s effectiveness has been tested in numerous
controlled studies. Those studies have
demonstrated that it can be as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy
and may, in face, be preferred by some clients.
In 1999 a
report of the Surgeon General of the United States stated that traditional
therapy is inaccessible to many people because of the stigma associated with
it. (Mental Health: A Report of the
Surgeon General, 1999). That report
concluded that nearly two-thirds of the people who need mental health
care never receive it because they are too embarrassed to make in-person
contact with a therapist. Telephone
therapy can minimize those concerns.
There are
other benefits too:
·
Telephone
therapy adapts to the client’s scheduling needs by offering complete flexibility of location and time
How Do I Pay for Sessions?
Session
payments can be paid for by credit card or can be processed securely through
PayPal using your credit or debit card.
PayPal is free and is a secure way to handle your payment. You can also pay for your appointment in
advance by sending a check or money order..
Insurance
You will be responsible for your fee, not your insurance company.
They will reimburse you. Note when budgeting for therapy that insurance
companies will not reimburse you until you have paid your annual deductible
fee. You are responsible for filling out your own insurance forms. I will
supply you with the necessary data.
You understand and authorize that if insurance is used that I, as
your therapist, may release information to insurance companies or employers for
the purpose to verify insurance coverage or to process insurance claims.
Scheduling an Appointment
Appointments are to be scheduled and paid in advance. You may initiate the process by calling our
office at 1-800-791-5130 for an
appointment. On the day of your
appointment, we will call you at the appointment time – no sooner and no
later. Remember, your session begins at
that time. If you are late, that part
of your session time will be lost. If
you need to reschedule, we require a 24 hour cancellation notice.
How to Begin Telephone Therapy
Individual Telephone Therapy sessions are 60 minutes, or as long
as 120 minutes if needed. All sessions
are prepaid prior to the appointment day.
Additional follow-up sessions are available and sometimes recommended.
